Water, Water Everywhere but Not a Drop to Drink. PC Legislators Prioritize PC Water 🚰

Palm Coast's 2024 legislative requests prioritize water quality and flood risk reduction. After securing $55 million in 2023 and $82 million in 2024, the city is seeking support for infrastructure projects, many of which were vetoed by Governor Ron DeSantis last year. DeSantis had blocked several water-related funding requests, urging municipalities to pursue grants before seeking state funds.

This year, Palm Coast's requests include projects to address flood risk, such as a dry lake and weir in Seminole Woods, storm water improvements in the Woodlands and Burroughs Drive, and other water capacity initiatives. These projects, still without specific dollar amounts, will be reviewed with state legislators through city lobbyists and staff.

Mayor Mike Norris expressed hope that the state will prioritize funding for growth and water infrastructure to support the city's ongoing development.

United Healthcare CEO Murder: Luigi Mangione Charged in Thompson's Death 🥸

Luigi Mangione has been charged with murder in the death of United Healthcare CEO Thompson, who was killed last week in midtown Manhattan. The charges, filed late Monday, include murder, two counts of possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a forged instrument, and criminal possession of a weapon. These charges come just hours after Mangione appeared in a Pennsylvania court for weapons and forgery offenses.

Mangione was arrested Monday at a McDonald's in Altoona, PA, after an employee recognized him from NYPD wanted posters. Police said he was carrying a ghost gun, a suppressor, multiple fraudulent IDs, and a handwritten manifesto criticizing the healthcare system.

Law enforcement sources also revealed that Mangione had been reported missing on November 18, two weeks before Thompson’s murder. Born in Maryland, Mangione has ties to San Francisco and a last known address in Honolulu.

The creation of the gardens began over 32 years ago when Ray discovered the 100+ year old retired lime rock quarry in 1991. (Over one hundred years ago, miners were harvesting lime rock from the property to create the foundation of Highway 27). In 1991, Ray found that the property had been abandoned long ago, and it was a polluted swamp. He purchased the property for his own private use, initially intending to use the quarry as a giant fishing pond. He dug out what was left behind, including old mining remnants, and began to transform the old swampy quarry.
