Palm Coastian Discovers Mysterious Object on the Shore

Rattlesnake Island - In an unusual twist of fate, local resident Tammy Spangler, affectionately known as "Crabby" around town, stumbled upon a mysterious object while walking along the beach. The deep purple-colored item, which appeared to have washed ashore, piqued her curiosity immediately.

"I honestly thought it was a bottle of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's new non-binary perfume," Spangler said with a chuckle, referring to the celebrity duo's rumored fragrance line marketed for both men and women. "It was just so shiny and had this perfect, almost magical vibe to it."

While Spangler joked about the perfume, she couldn't help but wonder if the object was something more unusual. Experts are being called to examine the item, as its origins remain unclear. For now, Palm Coast residents are left to speculate about the nature of the deep purple object that has captivated the beach-going community.

🌐 AROUND THE INTERWEBS

Jōhatsu - Evaporated People - Disappear

Jōhatsu - "evaporation" refers to the people in Japan who purposely vanish from their established lives without a trace.

People become jōhatsu for a number of reasons, including depression, addiction, sexual impropriety, and desire for isolation. Sometimes, it is used to escape domestic violence, gambling debt, religious cults, stalkers, employers, and difficult family situations.  The shame of job loss, divorce, and even failing an exam can also motivate people to disappear.

In some cases, becoming jōhatsu is a way to just have a fresh start. When they disappear, they can abandon their former residences, jobs, families, names, and even appearances.

🌴 FLORIDA ADVENTURES

-WhimzeyLand-
The "bowling ball house" of Safety Harbor

WhimzeyLand is and has been a work in progress for over 20 years. It is a local landmark for those who live in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area and who like to seek out unusual places. We have a ton of different materials decorating our house: plexiglas sculptures, paintings, bottle trees, recycled material sculptures, and, of course, bowling balls. We often visit unusual places ourselves, so we started by painting the house really bright. Then, the ball really got rolling when we went to a flea market and came home with tons of free bowling balls. Since then, the house has slowly evolved into WhimzeyLand!

You can now take a 60 minute guided tour of Whimzeyland, Safety Harbor Art and Music Center and some other places that you didn't know were a component of Whimzeyland!!   Call Laurel Peterson 541-556-2760 or call 727-725-4018 if you would like to schedule a private tour with one of our FUNcilitators
